Electrical Engineer
What you’ll do
- Own the electrical architecture of the oTo machine, from battery pack and power distribution to motor drives and safety interlocks.
- Design, lay out and bring up PCBs for motor control, sensing, lighting, haptics, audio and the rider call button.
- Evaluate and integrate traction motors and magnet technology with our mechanical team and outside motor suppliers.
- Integrate sensors and radios (GNSS, IMU, radar, mesh networking) with our edge-computing platform.
- Build test fixtures, run validation and help take the design toward certification and small-batch manufacturing in the U.S.
What you bring
- A BS in electrical engineering or similar, and 3+ years designing and shipping hardware.
- Experience with BLDC/PMSM motor control, high-current power electronics and lithium battery systems (BMS).
- Schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium, KiCad or similar), plus lab bring-up and debug.
- Comfort with embedded firmware (C/C++) and CAN, SPI, I²C and UART.
- Nice to have: functional safety (ISO 13849 / IEC 61508), EMC and UL 2272 experience, or LoRa/mesh radios.
You’d be an early engineer on a product with a 23-year operating history behind it. Your work rolls through Minneapolis with real riders.
